Loving Kindness

In the lecture project, i chose "Love".

I think 'The Kindness of Strangers' coincides with one kind of love--the one we show to strangers.

Fortunately for me, I experienced this kindness this noon.

At lunch time, i went to the library building to take the coursebook. After I took the book, it began to rain heavily outside, and I didn't bring the umbrella . So I went back to the lady and asked her for a plastic bag to prevent the book from rain.
At first I just asked her for a plastic bag, she told me Concordia didn't use plastic bags for years, and if I want, I can buy a recycle bag for $2.
Then i told her it's raining outside, i just wanted to keep the book from wet. She responded friendly: oh, really? it's raining! We don't have plastic bags, but i think i have one to pack my lunch. When she was trying to find it at the information desk, another lady also began trying to find one for me. Then they chose one big enough for the book.
The result was I was wringing, but the book was well preserved...

Though it's just a little help, it still makes me feel comfortable and i really appreciate their help.

Searching Information On Research Paper

Before we visited the library on Monday, i knew what library looks like and i knew we have a large library. However, i still felt surprised when the librarian introduced how to use the online system to retrieve books. They have so many books, encyclopaedia, periodical etc. We can either broaden the topics to find specific information or tighten them to find relevant information. It's so convenient for us to locate every book we need. The facilities are also considerate. Besides normal computers, there are several computers for emergency use. Also, we can print or copy somthing at any time, as long as we pay for them. kkk...

Until now, i have learnt how to use the online system to search for books that i needed, and have found a few books maybe useful for my topic. But i haven't borrowed them yet, just read the title and summary. On Wensday's class, we learnt how to use the database, and i found some extra information about my topic. Unfortunately, i can't connect the database at home. This is the biggest problem for me unless i go to the library.

Anyway, i wish i could make good use of this perfect system and have my research paper done and well done!

Newspaper Summary

Today, i read an article in the newpaper published on July 2, 2008. (out-of-date)
Canada Day Celebrations covered many pages. One of the articles named"Calebrations mark our 141st birthday". The piece of news came from Ottawa.

July 1, 2008 was the nation's 141st birthday. The whole country came out to celebrate it.
At the National War Memorial, Canadians of different status and positions got together to commemorate soldiers in the Battle of Beaumont Hamel in the First World War.
At Halifax's Pier21, immigrants gathered together to celebrate becoming new citizens. There are 61 people from 27 countries sworn to be citizen on that day.
In Edmonton, the downtown were full of revelers who wanted to join the city's annual Silly Summer parade. The floats got bigger and better year by year.
In Ottawa, tens of thousands people gathered on Parliament Hill while waving flags in red and white. The prime minister spoke on the Hill. On behalf of Canada, he wished everyone a happy Canada Day and it was a time to celebrate their home and native land. He also noticed that the crowd has never been larger than this time. The governor-general was proud of her country. They also interviewed a family among the crowd, who were so glad of shaking hands with the prime minister.

All in all, it was a so important and excited day that every Canadian was proud of.

How to be Happy

After reading the eight tips, i found they are helpful because i have have tried some of them.
If something bothers me, i will be in low mood sometimes. But it won't last long.

If there are so many things that i need to do but i haven't started yet, i will feel crazy and make everything in a mess. This help me nothing but making the situation even worse.
So I will try to not thinking about double things in mind, and just begin with one of them. Then solve them one by one. It is an efficient way to cope with millions of problems for me.

If I have an argument with some people, i will probably feel very angry at that moment.
So i will go to my friends and share the unhappiness with them.
If i speak it out, i will feel relax and then let it go as if it never happens.

There is time when i'm tired with surroundings and feel everything is boring.
If that happens, i will just stay alone, listen to the music or watch movies which i'm interested in.
These will occupy my attention, so i won't get bored or tiresome.
Or just go to bed and have a good, long sleep. After getting up, everything has passed and there is a fresh me.

Although the eight tips are very helpful for making us happier, everyone of us have our own way to deal with the tension and stress.

Happiness

Happiness is a satisfactory feeling towards things that happen around us. It usually has positive effects on people by increasing their courages and confindence. This feeling vary from person to person. People who are hard to pleased often feel less happy.

I am very happy for the following reasons:
I have family that love me and support me;
I have friends that trust me and encourage me;
I have a chance to study abroad while some don't have;
I understand how to cherish precious memory as gifts for further;
......

Happiness can keeps us in good mood and kind to others. Moreover, it can be contagious.

Being happy is not difficult. Since negative attitudes like anger and disappointment are useless for improvement, why don't we change them into positive?

Compare to the sick, we should be happy because we are healthy;
Compare to the poor, we should be happy because we are able to afford, at least, our basic needs.
Compare to the famous stars, we should be happy because we have freedom to walk everywhere without being followed;
......
Countless things could make us happy if we know how to treasure what we possess.
